Our contemporary classes offer the students an outlet for complete artistic expression as it draws on both classical ballet and modern dance. Contemporary dance is abstract and less structured, however reliant on basic classical technique. Very expressive and typically performed in bare feet where the dancer is challenged to combine strong leg work, floor work, artistic expression and breath in the movement.
Our lyrical classes also draw upon classical ballet technique as a foundation and jazz but is slower and more fluid in pace and movement. Lyrical dance is performed with music with a strong emphasis on interpreting the lyrics of the song but through the movements choreographed and emotion of the dancer. Lyrical dancers are often featured today on popular dance television shows.
Our contemporary & lyrical classes are a part of our competitive troupe work, to participate in troupe classes students must undertake one ballet class.
